We arrived at 6pm because we took a taxi there. Had our dinner there and Caleb went on stage. Before they started to sing, Caleb was looking for me. Many parents crowd around the front area with cameras, ipads, video camera etc. I sat on a chair and waved at Caleb. He ran up to the front, thinking that I asked him to come forward. Teacher pulled him back and they started to sing. Of course, I never waved again.
This is his first time on stage. The previous two schools did not allow him to go on stage. He is able to follow actions, but is slightly slower. This current school doesn't practice alot. They do practice, but not everyday. Caleb's previous school practice everyday, make sure everything is perfect and all the children have the same action at the same time. I like this school's style very much. They let the children enjoy the song instead. Its not so perfect actions, not so perfect moves, not totally perfect, but who cares? Parents are happy that their children are on stage and enjoying themselves!
Caleb played with his friends later and he carried his angry bird lantern. We walked out and took a bus back home. Caleb took a nap in the afternoon and thus could "tahan" longer at night. Usually, he sleeps at 8pm on saturday. He goes for therapy every saturday and does his homework in the afternoon. He finally slept at 11pm.
I am filled with thanks to God, the school and especially the form teacher Lin Lao Shi. I hesitated to sign the approval form as I am not sure how Caleb will react on stage. What if he spoils the performance? What if he just stand there not doing the actions? What if.....? Lin Lao Shi told me I should let him have a chance to try out. The worst thing is just that he stand at the stage and do nothing. But its still a good chance for him to learn. I was very touched. She didn't mind that Caleb may spoil the performance. She is willing to let him try.
Then why should I deny him of the chance?
Its a step of faith. Its a step of trusting God, Caleb, Lin Lao Shi and also trusting myself.
I learned alot!
